The main goal of Everest of Apples Akita for 2006-7 is authenticate two new prospective projects in West Bengal, India. In December 2006, with the help of the AJET Special Interest Group, Go Make a Difference (Go M.A.D. http://www.go-mad.org), 10 volunteers from EofA Akita, 2 volunteers from EofA Aomori and 3 volunteers from other parts of Japan, will travel to India to hold a one-week English camp and to meet with school principals about the needs of each particular school.
After validating the projects in December 2006, we hope to donate funds towards:
- ♦ Purchasing a new plot of land for the Baharampur Primary School
- ♦ Purchasing essential school supplies and contributing towards operating expenses of the Baharampur Primary School
- ♦ Purchasing 10 new beds for the orphans at Baharampur Primary School
Everest of Apples-Akita's financial goals for 2006-7, are to raise ¥1,000,000 (US$8,500) through a combination of fundraising events and private donations.
